Thank you ENWorlders (Monster Manual 3)

So, I was reading a few threads in here recently that praised the Monster Manual III somwhere in the thread (threads about monster books, and threads about what books you bought because of ENWorld, and so on).

So, while at Chapters the other day, I bought Monster Manual III (I was actually looking for Complete Adventurer, but they didn't have it yet).

And I must say, I'm very impressed. An excellent monster book overall, full of great ideas and good imagination.

And also, a thank you to John Cooper, who's errata I've added to the book.

To me, this is what ENWorld is about more than anything: Gamers who share their experiences with products, and help people decide for themselves. Secondary to that is both sharing house rules and advice for each others' games as well as the community of friendship this place has.

Yeah, MM3 is a great book. I've already used about 4 monsters from it in the past two months, and I'm about to use two more before the end of the month. :D

If you want to freak your players out grab the dread blossom swarm from the MMIII and then add the flesh plant template from Green Ronin's Advanced Bestiary. That makes for a really weird, disgusting monster.

So, what makes it so good? We have plenty of monster books already is this one just as good as many of the ones out there or is it actually better then them?

I think it's just as good as many of the books out there, but there are more than a few monsters in it that are really unique and interesting. also, some of the artwork just jumps out and gives me ideas that I'd like to use for my group. While any book has its share of really good monsters, MMIII seems to have more than most. Just be sure to grab John Cooper's errata.

It actually is quite good on its own anyway, but one of the advantages that it has over its 3rd party competition is that as an official book, the monsters from it have a chance of being made into minis or featured in Dungeon adventures.
