Thank You!

I can say firmly that I've never been more excited about the gaming industry than I am right now. That's not to say that I am certain that I'll like 4E. But I AM certain that I like the people who are handling it. Foremost among them Mr. Rouse.

Scott, you're a large part of why WotC isn't taking more flack than it is for so many of the decisions this year. This is the most open and approachable I've seen the D&D brand since the days before Hasbro took over, and you deserve a lot of the credit for that.

Have to second what Xath said.

It's a well-deserved award. You guys at WotC did some fantastic products last year... they're some of my all-time favourite RPG purchases.

Congrats on the award, Scott and the WotC folks.

Honestly, I didn't vote for Wizards (had to go with Green Ronin this year), but WotC was a close second.

PHB 2 and Complete Mage were great products, and a lot of the Eberron stuff was awesome as well.

BTW, what's wrong with meatspace? Where else are all of us meatbags supposed to hang out? :D

Once again thank you. It is truly an honor to get a vote of confidence in a year of controversy.
i like how you acknowledge that some people rate you right up there with Lorraine "She who shall not be named" W.

congrats on the win.

+1

If the success of the RPG industry was solely dependent on having quality individuals at the helm, then it is set to flourish. It is a breath of fresh air to see the major players (and not just WotC) be so accessible and down to earth at events like GenCon.

What controversy? I've been pestering Paizo for years to put Dungeon into PDF or another digital format. You guys are coming through on that, so I'm tickled. Not only that, but I get 6-9 months of subscription to Dragon and Dungeon magazines for free. What's not to like?

Anyway, I'm glad you guys got the award. I'm even happier that you are taking the award seriously -- it'd be really easy, as the 800 lb gorilla in the arena, to take it as a contest among lessers or your due. It sure doesn't seem like that's the case.

Didn't vote for it being first, or didn't vote for it at all? Remember, the idea was to rank the nominees in order of preference (leaving out those you weren't familiar with).

Sorry, actually meant didn't vote for them for first place. I'm 99% sure WotC was my #2 choice. There have been a lot of recent WotC books that I've really enjoyed.

Scott, you guys put out some great product this year - you deserved to win. Hope you all have developed a thick skin over the last year too, you'll need that.

Maybe you were totally winging it, but I thought that was a pretty classy acceptance speech, and the kind of forthright candor that you expressed in that speech is a good part of the reason that I don't think the award was at all misplaced. Yeah, you may have dropped a few "crap bombs" so to speak, but you've also displayed a willingness to own up to doing so, come at it from the fan's perspective and let us know that the brand is in good hands.

That said, I voted for Privateer Press. :p But that's only because I'm a ridiculous little fanboy.
