Thanks for downloading JH NameGen!

Maraxle

First Post
400+ people downloaded JH NameGen in its first day of availability. That far exceeded my expectations. I'd like to thank everyone who decided to give it a try.

After you've had a chance to play with it a little, make sure to send me some feedback so I know what I can do to make it better for you.

I have some more rule sets in the works, which I will be happy to share with you. Also, if you come up with any interesting rule sets, let me know, and maybe I can include them on the website (with your permission, of course).

Thanks again!

Having a problem with your name generator. I get the following message:

C:\Program Files\JH NameGen\rules\.rul is not a valid rule file. It contains one or more critical errors, which may include empty #DEFINE or #GENERATE blocks or is missing the #GENERATE block.

I just installed this last night and tried running it today. Any ideas to help me solve this problem?

You've got mail!

Update: Seems to be running now without any fixes. I will be working tonight to try to identify the root cause.

I would like to say the following...

Best.

Name Generating Program.

Ever!!!

Nice interface, and one the best, most customizable, most organic naming system I've seen. The first thing I did after downloading this program was to generate up 140 assorted names for my next D&D game.

Now, will you be releasing, or supporting any upgrades or additions for this software, such as Gnomes, Halflings, Goblins, Kobolds, and Dragons?

Thanks for the compliments! I have a few new rule sets in the works already. One is sounding kind of gnomish at the moment. It's somewhere between halfling and gnomish right now because the two are kind of blended in my campaign world. Once it's up to par, it'll be out there. Another is town names.

If you have any info on goblin, kobold, or dragon names please let me know, and I'll give those a shot too.

I would also like to apologize, as my email server is messed up right now, so if you tried to email me in the past day or so, I probably didn't receive it. You can still get me at my backup account, jeffhanson2000@hotmail.com.

UPDATE: Email should be coming up soon, and is already working in some areas. As soon as DNS propogates fully, everyone will be able to reach me at my normal address.

Thanks!
