Message: <blockquote data-quote="Tharivious_Meliamne" data-source="post: 2558315">Peaceful resolve accomplished on the previous point, or at least it is in my eyes, hopefully no bad blood remains for anyone else.  But as I said:I'm a man of my word.  There is something that occured to me the other evening that has been bothering me, and it's something I think is worth mentioning, so here it goes.Knowing the Names of People That you Don't KnowThat's right, the telepaths.  Not all telepaths mind you, only a select few that get dubbed telepaths.  I think everyone knows what I'm talking about here.  These are the people that always know the name of whatever character they see, whether they've met them, seen them around before, or not.  "But, the names of well known characters could be logically known."I'm sure that some people might argue this point, I however, cannot agree.  If a person is well known enough to have name recognition by complete strangers, then they've become too well known.  And even then, I've had this happen to my characters in the strangest ways.It happened to Tharivious the other night, someone referred to him as Thar, despite never being introduced as such to this character, or even referred to as Thar around this character.  Granted, Tharivious might be known by some characters, but known by a nickname?  I think not.  And that's not even the strangest one.My character Igyvasfaxavaj showed up late one night in the tavern, and there were a few people talking.  He was there in his drow form, and as he sits down to drink his whiskey, I read "A drow named Igy, now I've seen everything." from one of these 'telepathic' characters.  I simply had him react as, "Oh great, another telepath." at hearing his name being spoken by a complete stranger.  And before anyone says that Igy might have name recognition, he's barely been in more than 20 times in 6 months, and has conversed with maybe 15 other characters, and that's being generous.I just think that it's rediculous for such things, especially when a character could very easily be warded against mind reading, just look at the Mind Blank spell, it wards a creature completely and has next to no means of bypassing short of dispelling or anti-magic, and even stops Wish type effects, of course, if someone is using a Wish to learn some random person's name, then they should read Nugan's "How not to be a Power Gamer" thread.  It just bugs me when a player insists on doing something like that, and I let the newer players slide, since they don't likely realize the mistake that they're making, but when a player has been around for a while, there's no excuse for such things.~ Tharivious Meliamne's player</blockquote>
