He definitely could be a non-constumed villain BUT Sandman got his powers because he happened to be on the beach near a facility in which a test nuclear reactor exploded. He was doused with radiation and became Sandman.

Which is a totally lame origin. It's not like they haven't been that tight with those kinda details.

venom was a cool character up until carnages 2nd appearance.

Interesting. I like Topher's comedic performances. But can he play a decent character outside comedy? I only know him as "Eric"*. I don't know if I imagine him in a Spiderman role.

BTW, what's the technical difference between a nemesis and a villain?

*I do love him as Eric though. He's the quinessential everyman that managed to get the hot girl next door, but somehow still does stupid stuff.

Nemesis is synonymous with archenemy or archrival. Does that classify him a villain? I dunno, how would you classify a Spidey-hater like J. Jonah Jameson?

Highly doubtful that the 2nd villain will be Venom or Carnage since Raimi prefers the 'original' rogues gallery. Maybe Topher will play Rhino. Only logical after years of Red calling him a 'dumbass' to become one.

Seriously tho, given that Harry found dear ol' dad's stash of goodies, he'll follow thru with his revenge as Green Goblin II / Hobgoblin but that's too obvious and cliche (not to mention a remake of the first one). Raimi's slicker than that and it's also a perfect red herring.

However dad's research could be used to create some 'Spider slayers' (intentional or accidental) like the Sandman or the Scorpion. Heck, what about Topher as the Vulture?

Ya know, Kirsten did say that there was a 'lizard thingy' or something to that effect in the next movie. To someone unfamiliar with the character, the Scorpion looks kinda like a lizard. Curt Conners was just a smoke screen for another curveball (no Lizard). Further, Matt Gargan was kinda scrawny before JJJ had him zapped into the Scorpion.

My guess: Topher Grace as the Scorpion in Spiderman III.
