The 2 Jacks, Alias and 24 finales - spoilers

I heard that part, but I didn't know what that had to do about Rambaldi, and why Irena needed the little orb. Why now? She could have wiped out Prophet 5 (we saw how easy that was) and used the missiles at any time and then profit from the rebuilding. What did any of that have to do with Rambaldi?

I don't think it had anything to do with the Big R, per se, but because he could prolong your life, you'd have all those lifetimes to accumulate power AND enjoy it. "You can't take it with you", but what if you never have to go?

I agree it is debatable how much more influencial Prophet 5 might be versus, the Illuminati, or any of the other organizations actually named in the show.

re: Rimbaldi
At some point during the finale or the previous episode or two, it was mentioned that Rimabaldi had been executed at the prison Sydney went to with Sark to meet the old guy.

Why didn't he use his invention? Beats the hell out of me, I have plenty of speculative ideas, but nothing you couldn't come up with yourself easily enough.

Of course thinking about it, more questions come up, like how come Irina is dead? If she fell onto the bloody orb, why didn't it bring her back to life? Was it the bloody pool of water that did it for Sloane?

I don't think Irina had any contact with the liquid from the artifact, or so is my guess. The other possibility is that the goop in the artifact didn't have the same properties as the stuff from the ball itself.

Finally from what Sloane said, I believe he was functionally immortal. Nothing could kill him and he'd live for ever, or damn close to it. THis explains his surviving the blast and the crushing weight.

Did they ever say what happened to Will, the reporter who briefly showed up as a carpenter in a later season?

They showed him at one point, he and Sid talked, I think he helped with something, and he went back to his life (he was engaged).

Also I think it was this season they showed him, in the first half pre-break.
