The 3 Wizard Feats

Once a Wizard max out INT; it comes down to options. Let's succeed on those concentration checks

1) The Resilient (con) feat
2) Warcaster Feat

but the seldom mentioned
3) Lucky Feat

Most cases I would say that Resilient trumps Warcaster. But it is a bit of pulling hairs with the math. Certainly if the +1 Con bumps up Con to a even, then it is more than worth it.

But let's talk about Lucky. Can Lucky be used as a substitute for Warcaster? I have been debating this a bit. Isn't Lucky giving Advantage to the same said Concentration checks? Is it in essence not more versatile? I guess it boils down to polling out there. How many Concentration checks are you making per long rest? Is it 3 or less....

Now if you are sitting within 5' of an enemy, I can see the advantage of Warcaster. I'm reevaluating Lucky and I am trying to see the downside here for Concentration checks vs the others. Thoughts? Your experiences. I will choose a feat here soon.

Incidentally, I am a halfling wizard so it is fun to determine/change outcomes.

The problem with lucky is, you only get 3 luck dice pernlong rest, whereas war caster always works.

I realize that, hence I made it the talking point above.
The question is how many concentration checks are all the wizards out there making per long rest?
And if the math holds up, it is an additional 1.5 times you don't even need to make a re-roll as it was already high enough.
So you get about 4.5 concentration checks per day (if used solely for this purpose) vs unlimited via Warcaster.

Is having more than 4.5 (unlimited) more than the utility the Lucky Feat gives you?

Ideally you shouldn't need that many, but there are lots of reasons war caster is better. I really don't see it as a wizard feat, while it helps wizards, I think it was made for EKs and Paladins, or any other caster who wants to run around with a sword and shield.
But why would I take it over lucky? True wizards, try to stay away from combat, but there are those pesky ambushes with creatures who like to attack the soft targets, there are those pesky AOEs that sometimes can't be avoided, and of course, there are other casters and ranged attackers. When dealing with smart enemies, I your DM should play them smart. A wizard who never gets attacked may not find War Caster useful, but a caster that gets attacked a lot will find it very useful. Also, it allows you to cast a cantrip as part of an attack of opportunity.

From personal experiences, I've found that Alert is a very popular first Wizard feat.

Special shout out to the 19 Con Hobgoblin Wizard that took Durable at level 8 after maxing Int at level 4. I thought it was smart.

I cannot say that my sorcerer has identified any particular feat she likes. My warlock player did take lucky, but he uses that to pass saves. I've also added a house rule to allow Lucky to influence the d20 roll on spells such as Blink, Mirror Image, or Slow.

I always thought war caster was more of a cleric feat, unless he is a blade singer my parties wizard is always in the back with a front liner trying to draw fire.

In my group lucky would actually probably be better in most situations, now if you go against another wizard, or int based opponent than the wizard may be targeted to a higher degree than normal war caster has its merits.

Alert is just an undervalued feat all together, works for almost every member of the party.
