The 8 classes in the PHB...

Or when the Barbarian comes out, they're better at being a Barbarian than the fighter that can temporarily rage.

Not all classes may be coming back, though. Wasn't it a playtest blog that said the flip quote, "the ranger killed the scout and took his stuff?" Some classes may have to be totally reinvented because their biggest shticks, like the Sorcerer and the Ranger, have been taken by other classes that, arguably, should have had them in the first place.

Well, what was said was that all classes that were in the 3.5e PHB would eventually see print in 4e. I gather most of the other ones from the other books are possible candadites for reprint. That's actually the context of the quote about the ranger killing the scout and taking his stuff. They were spelling it out as one of the exceptions that most of them would be in 4e.
