The Ashes - Fifth Test

127 for 5 at lunch.
I dont have a good feeling about this.. Though perhaps dropping Peiterson twice will come back to haunt the aussies.

(Straws, clutching, springs to mind.)

Yep, I'd have to say Australia have a slight edge right now. As long as Pietersen is there though, anything could happen. Though what Lee just did to him in the last over is a good sign for us (Australia).

This one may go down to the wire again!

To be honest at this point i cant see it being that close, if Collingwood and Piertersen stay in for a while then possibly. Still the way the series has gone so far you cant rule it out.

Id still like to see some rain though... ;)

Noooo... that's the last thing we want :) If England are going to win the Ashes, I'd prefer to see them do it by skill rather than have the weather play a factor today. It's been too much of a good series for it to end due to rain or bad light.

That's probably been the best thing; no matter who wins the Ashes, it has been one hell of an interesting series!

T'other half keeps saying that to me, thats its better to win properly without bad light or rain intervening. A fair sentiment, but when you have been waiting as long as we have i will have it any way possible!
Looking at the weather forecast though it looks like a full interupted day.. Just typical can never trust the british weather!

The other thing in your favour is that only 25 overs were bowled in the first session; with Warne on at one end, that was a very slow rate. The full 98 overs may not be able to be bowled yet....

Anyway, just about to re-start; see you at the tea break :D

I big partnership and the Aussies are struggling. If England make it to Tea with 250 lead then wickets down will be irrevelant. Cant see Aus scoring fast enough to get 250 in a session withought getting skittled.

In this match and the series as whole the balance has moved from one side to the other - after all at lunch yesterday Australia looked like they could bat their way into a first innnings lead - for England the main thing is try and keep the wickets long enough and put the aussies into a position where they have to score very fast and either run out of time or wickets in a run chase.

That'll do me.
(Mind id like 30 more runs in the bag, just to be a bit safer..)

Think warne's dropped catch was the big one.

30 more runs, 10 more overs consumed and it's all over.

Warne may have "dropped the ashes" but then Aus wouldn't even be in this series if it weren't for his efforts with bat and ball! Man's a legend and if Aus loose I'd hate him to be made a scapegoat.

Rather it was Langer and Hayden for setting the standard for "bad light" on day 2, or Hayden for a very selfish innings.
