The Battle for Middle-earth

OK, I've played it a few times now. I really like the game for its feeling of quality. I agree with WingOver about the long load times, very slow with my computer as well. I tend to play zoomed out, so I can't say I noticed animation issues, but the overall graphic quality is not as good as Dawn of War.

I do like it. It doesn't really do anything differently, but it's fun to run over orcs and watch them fly left and right after a cavalry charge. I do appreciate that units gain experience, unlike C&C Generals.

Ok, I played it more and it's grown on me. Once you get a horde of cavalry on the map, the little details are lost in the chaos of battle, but the clashing units still look cool. Weapon/armor upgrades make the units look pretty. Hero abilities/powers recharge pretty fast so you usually have a variety of tactical options on hand.

I think my attitude changed once I lowered my video res (performance increased dramatically) and the first time I garrisoned a castle and saw the siege ladders storming my base. Once the ladders were in place, a horde of infantry flooded in and everything got really exciting. :)

I will try to lower my res to smooth things out. I know what you mean about the siege stuff, fun:)
