There is more than what you believe…

Every day, Heroes and Villains live out their lives in pursuit of the ultimate goal. Saving innocent lives, conquering the world, gaining power, or spreading the word of a divine being - all of them are quintessential means to an end. They are defined by the alignments: Law, Good, Evil, Chaos, and Neutrality.

But there is more than personal beliefs in Life, more to the fundamental workings of the universe than the independent actions of trillions of creatures. Alignments are not just a series of guidelines for your character to follow. They control everything.

The Book of Alignment is your guide to translating one-and-a-half pages of rough text on the alignment system and expanding it like never before. Providing a theoretical viewpoint of alignments with alternate possibilities for incorporating and expanding the system in your game, this book provides options and topics for discussion within your campaign. Whether these ideas are original or obvious, they are designed to invoke thoughts and concepts to give your characters greater depth in how they interact with their world. Optional rules include true alignments, triple alignments, a non-alignment campaign, and personality archetypes.

In addition, The Book of Alignment introduces a worldly concept in the alignment system and introduces alignments as a universal force. Imagine a creature of pure Evil, its very being striving for nothing more than the absolute destruction of all Life and yet never sated. These pages contain epic options for any campaign, taking your characters on the ultimate quest: to discover the meaning of Life.

The Book of Alignment is also the first PDF product to use the Gem of True Seeing layer, an optional tool providing bonus material hidden within the pages of the Book. Deleted text, extra thoughts that stray or compliment the core text, and in-character editorials, the Gem layer is designed as a tool to compliment the material found within and use as a players’ aid in the game.

Recommended for players and GMs. Published by Emerald Press PDF Publishing and available through the EN World store . Written by Todd Crapper and Ronald King Jr.

I don't see a page count.

164 pages, including front and back cover. The PDF is completely bookmarked and includes a table of contents. You can also print out the entire PDF by turning off the background layer on the PDF and it eliminates the ancient page image.

The preview options aren't working at the moment and OBS has told me they're looking into it. If you would like a preview of the entire Introduction (20 pages worth), let me know and I'll send it over to you or even just post a link here.

Yes, please, it would be nice to have a better idea of what directions you went in with these concepts.

*deleted*dot com, or just link it and I'll get it.

The Book of Alignment Demo

Here's the link for the demo, which is the full introduction and material from the Gem of True Seeing layer in the Intro. It covers the material to be discussed, concept of the Book, and general viewpoints of alignment as a whole in the campaign.

Sounds good. Hopefully I'll get around to buying it the first week of next month. It definitely takes a direction that seems to resonate with the many thoughts I have had about alignment over the last 22 years.

Even if it doesn't seem to match your own views on alignment, the Book was intended to at least open up discussion and debate on the impact of alignment in the game as something more than just morale guidelines and let players take a look at each of the aspects from a different point of view. It's always amazed me over the years on these boards how much alignment is discussed and thought about by players, yet how little it actually does in the game itself.

For those who are interested, there is a POD version on the way and we will be selling individual chapters within a couple of weeks for those who may be interested in only sections of the Book or still unsure of picking up the whole thing without actually reading the concepts of an individual aspect itself. These individual chapters will sell for $2 each and include a $2 off coupon towards the purchase of the entire Book.

The book is very well done. I was hoping to get a review up before Gen con but my computer is down and not working. Once I get that fixed this is my next review.
