The Books: Last Minute changes?

So, after reading many a thread (here and in other sites) from early PHB buyers, I noticed something: apparently, they made some "last minute changes" in the rules - making null some of the earlier previews - preview books included - and even some material discusses at Gamer Radio 0 interviews. Changes noticed to this moment:

- THERE IS NO "POWERS" CHAPTER at the PHB = it was said (in a GRZ, I believe) there would be a "powers" chapter, including the Rituals. The books presents the powes by class (in the "Classes" chapter), and Rituals in it´s own chapter.

- RACES DON´T EVOLVE THROUGH MANY LEVELS: hey, wasn´t this one even in the preview books (Races & Classes?) - that the choice of class would not only weight at character creation, but through all the PC career? There was even this image (of human, elven AND half-elven eyes) , that implied that half-elves could , somewhere in their life, choose to be "more-human" or "more elf"...

Apparently, the "racial choice" traction (out of Racial Feat and Paragon Paths) out of the first level.

Someone who has the books noticed some more "last minute" changes?

Now that you mention the racial progressions, I remember seeig that as well, and looking forward to it when I had read it. Its disappointing it got cut. Hopefully it will make a comeback as a DDI article or, even better, a free web enhancement.

Let's see--what other things seem to have changed that we know so far:

Golden Wyvern Adept is now called Spell Accuracy instead. Toughness gives fewer HP now than in the preview of Toughness. Raising the Dead was supposed to be extremely hard at heroic and easier as you go up, but it actually seems to cost more-or-less a steady percentage of an item of your tier to raise someone.

- RACES DON´T EVOLVE THROUGH MANY LEVELS:

The article in which they mentioned the idea of the 20 level race also said that, while it's an idea they considered and played around with, it's an idea they also discarded.

Yep. That's what Racial Feats are for.

There was even this image (of human, elven AND half-elven eyes) , that implied that half-elves could , somewhere in their life, choose to be "more-human" or "more elf"...

Half-Elves can choose both human and elf Racial Feats, so if you want to become "more human" then take Human Racial Feats. If you want to become more "elf" then take Elf Racial Feats.

Wasn't there talk of talent trees like d20Modern and SWSaga too? Whatever happened to that?

They still sorta have those, albeit a lot more esoteric. Take cleric for example. Each level about half their new powers are STR based and half are WIS based. You CAN choose whichever you want, but, in general, you are going to follow you way down the "Wis Tree" or the "Str Tree".
