Hughie would be a nice full-circle character, but this show loves its shocks. Killing him off in the next to last episode would be a classic Kripke move.

The only ones I'd count on being alive at the start of the final episode are Homelander and Butcher, although maybe they kill Butcher in the next to last episode and Hughie has to be the one to somehow kill Homelander.

I assume a good guy supe makes sure it does and that we do. That's the kind of big self sacrifice that Starlight is all about.

I thought of that as well but second guessed myself into thinking the real subversion of trope, in this case, would be Hughie surviving.

Is Frenchie a super? Not sure. Also, everyone who works for Vought or is around generally, I guess.

What would be a mild twist is if the virus depowers everyone rather than kill them - a fate worse than death for Homelander. Though of course someone is bound to kill him one minute later.

I forgot about Frenchie, but my guess is he is not long for this world. he is the perfect sacrificial character given his past.

If they really want to do the gut punch ending, Frenchie would be the last man standing. The guy with crippling self hate, who is the only one who wants to die?
