The Captain's Caper! (Dunamin judging)

OOC: Good call Dun' - never mind being corrected its how you learn the rules - in that case Brudd does not charge he can still reach the same position so -1 to his attack.

-Alexander moves forward and draws the attention of one of the scorpions away from Quagmire, though his attack fails to pierce its chitinous shell.

-Brudd has better luck (or better help from above) as his first attack squashes the creature in between him and Hrav. By the grace of Hadeys, Quagmire rapidly heals and also overcomes the effects of the scorpion poison, and the scorpion holding him is damaged further by Brudd's light show. It would seem that Hadeys smiles upon this minotaur from his Invisible Castle... ;)

[sblock=OOC]Quagmires turn. He is still grabbed and immobilized by the scorpion until he escapes by its death or with an Athletics or Acrobatics check. S1 is looking mighty injured.

Initiatives
24 - Quagmire: grabbed and immobilized, will take 5 lightning damage if still grabbed at start of S1's next turn.
21 - Hrav
20 - Girth
15 - Stormclaw Scorpions
12 - Alexander
07 - Brudd

S1 - 26 damage
S2 - dead
S3 - undamaged
S4 - undamaged
S5 - undamaged
S6 - undamaged

Thanks for the assist, Dunamin. Now where is that brimstone smell coming from? Kurt, is that you? ;)[/sblock]

Quagmire pulls himself free of the scorpion's grasp, stepping aside from the encircling vermin. He turns and attacks one of the few who did not attack him before, stabbing it deeply in the back.

[sblock=actions]Sorry, didn't realize it was my turn.

Athletics 17 to escape the grab and shift to G9. I'm assuming that escapes. Attack S5 with Wolf Pack Tactics, allowing Hrav to shift 1 before the attack (hopefully to I7, granting CA). Hits AC 27 for 5 damage. Roll includes CA; it's 2 less to hit if Hrav shifts elsewhere. Extra damage from 1/encounter sneak attack, that I forgot in the first roll: 6; only applies if Q gets CA. So 11 total.[/sblock]

Hrav takes opportunity Quagmire's move on the scorpion grants him, and steps over to flank the overgrown arachnid with the hobgoblin, his bugbear instincts showing him just were to strike.

"Thanks for the cover, Quag!" Hrav tells the hob.

[sblock=Mechanics]Shifts as part of Quag's turn to I7

Minor action - Apply Predatory Eye to S5

Girth moves swiftly but quietly westwards until he is partly behind the larger group of scorpions. He prepares to attack the rearmost of them but then his eyes flash as he sees Quag move away.

"Perfect, my Lady. I see thy plan clearly now."

Almost casually he flicks his fingers and the fiery heart of the sun descends upon the vile beasts.

[sblock=Girth’s Actions] Girth moves to N14. He casts Scorching Burst against S1 on H11. This hits S3, S4 and S6 as well. [/sblock][sblock=Girth’s Actions]To hit vs Ref: S1 - 6; S3 - 22; S4 - 22; S6 - 15 Roll Lookup Damage 8; Roll Lookup [/sblock]

-Quagmire gets away from the scorpion grabbing him and moves to stab a different target with Hrav's help.
-Hrav shifts slightly to flank the scorpion between him and Quagmire. He stabs it deeply, but doesn't quite kill it like he'd hoped to.
-Girth moves around the edge of the battle before launching an attack at the clustered scorpions who had surrounded Quagmire. The central one escapes harm, but the ones around it are scorched with fire.
-Two of the scorpions come after Alexander. One tries to grab him in its claws but he barely manages to dodge out of the way. Unfortunately, he dodges right into the stinger of the other scorpion. The sting hurts some, but then he feels his body slow down as the poison flows in his veins.
-The other three scorpions gather around Quagmire once more, but this time he knows how they attack. He manages to dodge the claws and stinger of the two on one side of him, but the one between him and Hrav pinches him in its massive claws.

-Alexander and then Brudd can go...

"Guide me blade boss! Burn scorpion!" The Minotaur bellows stepping forward as his blade is engulfed in flames and striking the scorpion grabbing Alex with a mighty blow.

Brudd glances skyward worriedly, things have been going alarmingly well for him lately.

[sblock=Hit 23 S3, 20 Damage + 5 ongoing Fire Damage]
Move, step forward to J10, Minor Divine Fortune, Standard Avenging Flame.

The damage roll is wrong because I added in the 5 ongoing fire damage, and forgot to add in the versitile damage so it should be 20 with 5 ongoing fire.If possible will move to flank with Alex for a +2. (1d20+8=23, 2d12+9=23) [/sblock]

Alexander suffers the sting of poison, but he doesn't mind the pain and swinds again his sword, and somehow hits both the scorpions in front of him. He even manages to shake off the effects of poison.
