The Captain's Caper! (Dunamin judging)

Dropping the large duffle bag from her back, Arjhaan falls to her knees in front of the small chest. Opening it carefully, she looks inside along with the rest of the group. Sealed scroll tubes litter the inside atop an old looking book wrapped in a water resistant skin of some sort. "It's here!" she says, nearly moaning with pleasure. "It's all really here!!" she exclaims as she begins delicately flipping through the book with a wide eyed stare.

Brudd takes his bastard sword in both hands and stands casually over the kneeling Dragonborn.

"Explain. NOW." The Minotaur says calmly, but firmly. He also eyes the contents of the chest appraisingly.

[sblock=Ready]Brudd readies a Righteous Brand for if the Dragonborn does anything, but give him a damn good explaination.[/sblock]

"Sword??" Arjhaan says with a distracted air while continuing to peruse the tome. Raising one hand towards the minotaur, he tenses for just a moment in readiness to end her life but then sees that she is just twidling her fingers toward him dismissively before droning out "Oh, the sword. Why its in my bag there with the shovels and such. You can go ahead and take it now if you like." Finally finishing her initial look through the materials of the chest, she closes it back up and turns to the unhappy faces of the Captain and crew. "Well now, like he said..." she points at Quagmire "... 'I better have been paid in advance'. And now I have been. That rotten dwarf thought he could pay me for a magical honorblade from the Empire of Jade with nothing but a treasure map and a promise that what I expected as payment was actually there? Not to mention that it was guarded by giant scorpions!? Would you have given him the sword when he considered that payment? I think not! So get frosted, because you've got your sword now that I've got this chest, just like I promised you." she finishes before walking off back toward the ship.

Searching in the pack does indeed find a sword wrapped up in cloth. Pulling it out, the group finds it is a large sized katana in a golden gem-encrusted sheath. The pommel and guard are decorated as well with gemstones. Either end of the guard holds a tiger's eye gem. Inscribed on the beautifully forged blade itself is a phrase in Draconic: "Mortus Devoir" which in common means "Death's Due".

Brudd does not feel that is a satisfactory explaination, and brings his blade down in a great arc striking the dragonborn between the shoulder blades as he bellows,

"Ye don't try and make a mockery of a servant of Hadyes ye scaly trickster, nor the boyz from the Bloody Wake, feel the wrath 'o Hadeys! Boss grant me pal Quagmire's blade yer blessin' to!"

As blood stains his newly polished armor the Minotaur roars,

"Ye don't take me I take you!"

OOC: Good grief, I think I made a good decision making Invisible Castle Hadeys home, truly Brudd is blessed! His rolls have been amazing!

Quagmire whips out his blade as well, striking the dragonborn in the legs, trying to disable her rather than kill. "Where do ye think yer goin' ye deceitful bilge rat! Ye can't pull that kinda con and just walk away."

[sblock=actions]viper's strike at Arjhann, Hits AC 19 for 10 damage. (I forgot Brudd's +4 in the roll, so IC says 15.) If that would kill her, I'll leave her unconscious instead. If she shifts before my next turn, Hrav gets an OA.[/sblock]

Hrav stabs the dragonborn with rapier as well. "Stinkin' liar..." he mutters.

[sblock=OOC]Holy Moly! The BAD boys of the Bloody Wake!:confused:[/sblock]Brudd slams his sword into Arjhaan's back, sending her reeling forward right into Quagmire's strike against the front of her legs. With a scream, the dragonborn falls to the ground spilling the small chest out all over the ground. Hrav stabs her with his rapier just as she's struggling to rise. With a groan, she sinks down bleeding and motionless to the ground.

Captain Azrael watches the proceedings with his arms crossed over his chest, showing neither approval or disapproval.

Alexander still hasn't had time to react. Now he looks at the apparently dead dragonborn and sighs, with a hand on his face, half in disbelief, half thinking "I knew it..."
The he groans, and comments: Well, I guess she did ask for it...

Brudd quirks at his companions,

"Dead Dragonborn tell no tales. The boss'll take good care of 'er, one way or another. Shall I finish 'er, seems a shame te waste that 'ole?"

The Minotaur also eyes the chest with undisguised greed, grinning and chuckling deeply.

"We should probly mess 'er up with scorpion left overs to. No sense lettin' a good scapegoat go te waste - hmm, thats good I should put that in the book." He adds as an afterthought.

Hearing Alex's comment the Minotaur grins and tears off a scorpion claw and sets about beheading Arjanna.

"Someone check the loot." He grunts as he sets to work. Once he is satisfied he produces a waterskin and begins to scour himself again, sighing as he produces his armor polish for the second time in minutes and puts some elbow grease into restoring his armors shimmering perfection.

[sblock=OOC]
Sorry Phoenix, but Brudd's a Cleric of the god of the dead its his duty to send as many souls as possible to the boss - so long as its not, umm, mildly inconvenient or anything. Plus she had a treasure chest and we are pirates, ergo thats our treasure chest, argh!

Since Quagmire and Hrav mentioned doing non-lethal damage I am assuming she is still alive. I wonder how poor Alex is going to react to this development? Join the nonaligned side my friend! Its just sexier![/sblock]
