The Center of Time

GM:
Duncan gives Xaion a look. "What, I'm the goon squad now?" he rumbles quietly.

Duncan taps the Originator as its eye pop open once more, to get its attention when he see it watching Ohm.

"These things communicate by touch. This one called me the 'slave of the thieves'. I'm going to try something, and I suggest one of you do this with me."

He touches the originator with his skin, hoping this instigates mind-to-mind communication.

GM: "Who are you and why did you attack my companions?"

ooc: hope the GM tags work. Never tried that before!

Xiaon, a Strong Willed Glaive who Focuses Mind over Matter

Xiaon sighs as Duncan ignore his request and proceed to interrogate the 'originator'. It is so hard to get good help these days.

Xiaon swivels and shoots Ohm (assuming that he has not complied with Echo's request). Then in one fluid movement Xiaon close the gap with the Nano, drops him to the ground and pins him

"Enough with the chimes already. If you must, then I will buy you a xylophone if we survive this and and you can tinkle until your hearts content."

[sblock=OOC]Effort 3 for each action (shoot, drop and pin). Edge +1 for Might and Speed. If they are neccesary.[/sblock]

[sblock=fireinthedust]Gn tags seemed to work. Text appeared in a box marked "GM".[/sblock]

"What does that mean, 'where time eats itself? What would happen if the energy transfer stopped?"

"The place where the energy goes." It makes a gesture with its hands, a triangle, the point downward. "We must go there. I do not know what would happen if we didn't go; that is our purpose, that is our function."

She looks back at the Originator and says, "Can we communicate? Can you understand me, and make me understand you?"

It looks at you with its huge eyes, and barely is able to wiggle its fingertip in a "come closer" gesture.

The mental communication is startling and powerful, and echoes in your head, but you don't feel that this is because the Originator is angry, but rather because your mind and its is so different. Even in mental communication it seems there are certain terms that simply do not translate. Your implants begin to ache as you "speak."

[sblock=Originator]I AM THE GUARDIAN OF THE *UNKNOWN* WELLSPRING. AND I DID NOT ATTACK. IF I HAD CHOSEN A *UNKNOWN* PATH OF VIOLENCE, THE BEING WOULD HAVE DIED *UNKNOWN*. I ATTEMPTED TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE ONE THAT FREED ME. WHEN THE OTHER MOVED TO VIOLENCE, I SUBDUED IT THROUGH ITS *UNKNOWN* CRUTCHES.[/sblock]

A little blood trickles from Duncan's nose as he remains in contact with the Originator.

OOC: I'll wait on any inter-party violence until Tailspinner gets a chance to tell us what Ohm is doing.

"The Originators guarded the Wellspring. They had entombed themselves in it. The Overwatch detected the energy of the Wellspring and sent an Excursion to tap into the unused energy, creating the Womb. The Womb was created to transfer energy to the place where time eats itself," the abhuman says with careful, precise clarity, as if reading from an unseen scroll.

Antor's interest is piqued. "Why does energy need to be transferred to "the place where time eats itself"? Is it to keep it from expanding?" Antor pauses for a response then continues, "Couldn't the Overwatch have told the Originators of their need to use the power of the wellspring and perhaps come to some agreement? I would assume that they would be affected by the events that would occur as well."

Ohm Eleven, A Mechanical Nano who Talks to Machines

As you begin to tap the crystals, the unconscious Originator's eyes snap open. It does not struggle, does not move, but its eyes follow you, as if waiting for you to do something... One combination of crystals seems to make the air warmer and more humid. One makes a lovely series of tones ring from the crystals. Another very complicated one makes a haze of gray dust spray from the ceiling and settle over everyone. Your sweat begins to mix with the dust, and you begin to find it hard to move.

Ohm Eleven starts to try another combination but finds it difficult to move. Finding this curious he suddenly ignores the stones and begins testing his range of motion.

The abhuman leader tilts its head slightly, pausing as tiny light motes dance around the antenna emerging from its head. "The units are not given to know the ultimate purpose of the Overwatch. The Overwatch saw the dormant energy, the Originators in stasis, and chose to use what was not being utilized."

Ohm, once you stop touching the crystals, the gray powder stop flowing, and as you move the coating begins to crack and then fall off like dry mud. But you suspect a much thicker coating would be harder to get off. A thicker coating like the one that had covered the Originator, and what still covers its two companions.

Ohm Eleven looks at Xiaon with a quizzical look. "Zie-low-fone? What is that?"

Duncan pushes himself off the Originator, wiping the blood from his nose.

"He says we struck first, that he was defending himself. Is this true?" he stands over the Originator, looking to Echo.

"It's... loud. But he wants to communicate with us, not fight. Maybe two of us can talk to it more easily than one alone?"

He readies his hand so he can touch the Originator at the same time as Echo, possibly diffusing the power of the telepathy and avoiding taking full damage.

OOC: is Xaion actually shooting Ohm? It'll change the focus if it's happening.

Xiaon gives number eleven a strange look (complete lost behind the blindfold he wears).

"Something you can bang on. It makes noise. But is less dangerous."

OOC: No. Not at the moment. Ohm has stopped playing with the crystals.

BTW, Xiaon has bonuses to resisting mental effects, which might make him a better power sink for the brain-wave communications.[/sblock]

Seregal watches both Echo and Duncan communicate with the Originator. He looks around warily, trying to read the language of the other party members and making sure that none of them are acting erratically or strangely, including Echo and Duncan. He takes out his lucky coin and starts to make it 'walk' along his knuckles. "This is all very interesting so far," he mutters. "But how does this link up with the Clock of Kala, and the Augur?"

He remembers the last time he met an Augur. "We are not like you," she'd said, almost sneering. "We are better." Are the Augur abhumans in their own way? More questions for Jastor Kannop, he reflects, if they can find him. He remembers the small objects he found before, and resolves to identify them when the threat level is significantly less.
