The chance of suffering psychic enervation is equal to 5% per manifester level added.

This is a sentence copied from the Wilder psionic class, is it new updated info? I thought for over a year now that it was 5% per level, it now reads as 5% per level added +1 = 5% at 1st level and +6 = 30% at 20th level.

Right?

Really? Wow, this is news to me as well. I first read about the class from the SRD which states 5% per level, which made me think the class was pretty useless as you approach epic. however this makes it a lot more palatable. Still though, that means that at 20th level you will have a 25% chance of being enervated, and thats particularly risky at that high a level. I love the idea of a psionic class that has more of a sorcerer feel compared to the wizard feel of the psion, but I think they fell short with the wilder.

Can't you always choose a lower bonus to caster level if you are worried about enervation.
So A 20th level wilder could choose to only take a +3 and risk a 15% enervation.

Indeed! You could even pick up a PrC sometime after getting your +3 and avoid having to worry about kicking yourself with the higher enervation risks.
