Atreus moves away through the shallow water, but the treacherous surface slows his usually quick stride.

Tander points out a likely looking side tunnel, but just as the party makes their way to it, Palindrome emerges from it, sporting a venomous glare. Clearly he has already tried this way, without success.

Woe bends and hefts Tsasha over his shoulder with a grunt. "Don't worry, sugar, I do this all the time," he says cheerfully. As he lopes easily through the sewers, looking for all the world as though this really is just another normal evening for him, he complains, "Could ya maybe squirm a bit more, though? Giggle now and then? Seems more natural, that way." Tsasha ignores him stoically.

The party are in a larger main corridor now, running east to west, with a number of side passages at irregular intervals. The "water" flows steadily but sluggishly west, large bubbles lazily bursting with noxious odors. As the party consider their next move, a soldier emerges from one of the side passages perhaps fifty yards away.. He calls excitedly, "This way, sir! I see them!"

[sblock=ooc]I'm back a little early. Still no sign of Dunamin? That's sad. :(

Woe succeeds on his check to carry Tsasha, and his check for the challenge. So 1 success, 3 failures.

In answer to Atriden's earlier questions: Yes, you can use Aid Another if you like, within reason. One skill check per round that counts as part of the challenge; if you want to try other skill checks, or anything else, go ahead, and I may give bonuses. I'm not likely to give penalties for trying something, unless it's really risky.

OOC: :( Three failures?! Aw, man! Is this a new 'round', because I really, really, really, really don't want to roll and make that four. *Groan!* Here goes...

Palindrome casts Ghost Sound. The voice of the leader of the soldiers sounds near his position, yelling at the soldier down the way, "Get back! We see them, too. They've got hostages. Withdraw or they'll kill them!"

OOC: Bluff -- 1d20+7=25 :erm: I guess the secret to better rolls is to NOT log into my account? Maybe I've somehow managed to cheese off someone at Invisible Castle... Hmm. Note to self: Stop sending death threats to faceless strangers.

OOC:
I won't be able to post before friday, just wanted you guys to know. And when I return home from Iceland, I will make sure Dunamin will post, he has been telling me that he would do so for awhile. Anyway, Atreus will use aid another to those who want his help. Clever move Kenhood!

The soldiers halt obediently. The leader looks around in confusion at the sound of his own voice, but quickly realizes what's going on. "That wasn't me, you idiots! It's an illusion! After them!" But valuable time has been lost, and the gap between the party and the pursuers has widened.

[sblock=ooc]For cleverness combined with a high roll, I'll let Palindrome's effort negate one failure, as well as being a success. We stand at 2 success, 2 failures.

Waiting on Tander. If you want Atreus' assist; go ahead and roll it, otherwise he'll assist Woe.

Tander catches a whiff of not-quite-so-rank air from one of the side passages and urges the group that way. In the distance, there is a spark of bright light. Could it be a way out?

Atreus helps Woe hitch Tsasha up to an easier carrying position. Thus eased, Woe puts on a burst of speed, flying through the sludge with apparent ease.

[sblock=ooc]Atreus to aid Woe's athletics: 18 succeeds. Woe's athletics to carry Tsasha: 24 succeeds. Woe's athletics for the skill challenge: 28 succeeds.

status: 4 success, 2 failure. New round!

Palindrome's timing is good, and there is a brief chain reaction of bright pops as several pockets of flammable air suddenly burst, slowing and dazzling the pursuers.

ooc: 5 success, 2 failure. Tander? Atreus? Woe?
