The Coming Of Conan the Cimmerian

The only one they did not get the rights to is, "The Ultimate Triumph". This is a collection of Howard's stand alone barbarian stories. The reason this one will not be published is, the art in WS edition was done by Frank Frazetta. There was a dispute about reprint rights to his work and Del Rey decided to pass on publishing it.

I thought long and hard about joining, as I was not sure the club would have enough selections that met my interests. Now I am ordering something almost every month. A great deal, I highly recommend it.

I second that "plug".
I received my copy of the book in the mail today... :D

Hmm there are 2 maps in the appendices of the book, handrawn by REH rather crude that are overlaid on a crude map of "modern " Europe.

Theres also a poem titled Cimmeria and a neat little list of Hyborean countries, with examples of names from those countries, kings, and gods by REH.

Hmm when does the Conan rpg come out. The list price I last saw was 49.95, but Im getting into a Conan frame of mind....

You can get it from the following link at Wal-Mart for 31.47...

What really blew me away is the dedication for the "Cimmeria" poem. He mentions the fog-shrouded hills above Fredericksburg as his inspiration for Cimmeria. Fredericksburg is my hometown and I have spent an awful lot of time in those very hills (often being inspired for my RPGs, in fact). I just found that too cool for words. It seems I come from Cimmeria! :D

While I'm always surprised when a D&D players hasn't read Tolkien, I really, really think every D&D player should read Howard's Conan stories. And Kull. And Solomon Kane.
