The Complete Psionics Handbook

when I'm doing a conversion I like to ensure that as much of the flavour of the original (as is possible) is taken across into the new version!

i feel the same way! :)

Converted Powers & Map

Well,

Here you go - this is the conversion that I'll be using in my up & coming game! I think I've mapped all the powers from the Complete Psionics Handbook & only had to drop three powers:

Contact - dropped as it's no longer an element of the Psionics system in D&D 3.5
Ejection - dropped as it's the power that's a last ditch defence against contact
Splice - As to translate it one would have to side step the manifester level rules. Possibly it would map over an an Epic Metapsionic feat - but I ran out of time.

Some of the mappings of old powers to new powers I'm still not 100% happy with. BUT, i think that in every case the new powers that i've mapped to mirror most if not all the capabilities of the old powers. In some cases, the new power grants more power than the old, in some cases a little less - I think that it balances out in the end. I've only done a conversion (or borrowed someone elses conversion) where I haven't been able to find any mapping at all.

Anyway - let me know what you think of the conversion. Many thanks to those that helped with their previous conversions - - - I'd have taken a hell of a lot longer to do this without all that assistance

Cheers - FMC

PS - I don't know if this is worthy of going in the conversion library or not! I'm not convinced that it obeys all the rules! That & it's not all my own work & I couldn't be asked to do all the legal stuff :heh:

Attachments

Could you post some of it for discussion, other than as an attachment?

Heck, all of it?

I am pretty much never motivated to download attachments, but would like to check out what you've done.

Oh, hell yes! This is exactly the type of stuff I was looking for.

I'll have to compare with a few old characters and see how it works out. :)

Wow - People actually read this :-)

Hi Dragonhelm,

Glad it was some help to someone else! That was one of the reasons for putting it up here in the first place! I'll be VERY interested to know how it goes when you "compare & contrast" - please let me know what you think!!

Hi Jester,

I'd be more than happy to discuss!!!!!! However, if I were to post the whole thing It would make one hell of a LONG post - I'd rather not do that (I find these things hard enough to read as it is). So if you could motivate yourself to read the attachment - we can discuss! I mean, I went to all that trouble to type it up nice & pretty - be a shame if you never got to see it :D

Thanks for making the time to leave feedback you two! I look forward to hearing more if you get the time & the inclination!

Cheers - FMD

One of the things I didn't like about the 3.0 Psionics Handbook was that there was no conversion guide. I've found that converting old 2e psionicists to be a bit of a pain. I've been looking for a conversion guide for quite some time now, so this helps.

I haven't toyed with it yet, but I'll try to post something when I do.

Thanks again for the hard work.
