The Controller Role Doesn't Exist

I dissagree, a servant of the gods with divine powers is popular. What isn't popular is being a "healbot."
That's an interesting thing about 4e. From what I've seen, there are some healing effects that occur in addition to the "smite the baddie" effect. It lets the cleric (or paladin, or whatever) do damage and help people at the same time.

I'll have to see it in action, if this is how it works, but it looks interesting.

But regardless of my opinion of public perception, the fact remains that a wizard is as required in 4e as a cleric was in 3e, and that this is a problem for the same reason: not everyone wants to have to have a wizard in their party, okay?

What?

KM was indicating that just like parties have people who do not want to play a cleric, there are parties who do not want a wizard.

He believes they will be equally disadvantaged to a 3e party without a cleric.

I happen to disagree, for a few reasons, as I think that the solution to a lack of clericness in 3e is highly inelegant, while a lack of wizardness can be dealt with through tactical use of the battlefield and utilising more strikers.
