The Crow sequals

warlord

First Post
So I just saw the Crow with Brandon Lee and it is simply the best movie I have seen in a long time so I'm wondering how are the sequals?

Awful. Absolutely awful.

The third and fourth are watchable if you're really, really, really bored, and if you can get them for free. Even then, I'd recommend you try to find something else to do.

The second, however, should be avoided at all costs. Seriously. Consider unnecessary dental surgery as an option before watching the second one.

And this from a guy who loved the first movie.

What about the one with Angel?

That's the fourth one. It falls into the "It won't kill you to watch it, but you can almost certainly find something better to do with your time" category. While it didn't violently turn me off like the second one did, I really found very little about it worth watching. Most of the acting is bad, and the plot is goofy. The only thing I really liked about it was watching David Boreanaz play evil, and you can see a much better example of that by digging out the Angelus-based episodes of Buffy and Angel on DVD.

Seriously, there's no good reason to watch any of the sequels. I can't stress that enough.

To put it in Internet speak, all of the sequels to The Crow are teh suck.

I'd rather re-watch the first The Crow than watch any of the sequals. Hands down.

Seriously here though, don't tarnish the memory of this movie or Brandon Lee's best and last performance by wasting time on these would be sequels. They are what all of the above mentioned and worse. They try to tell the same story from another's perspective with a slightly tweaked (the weak in the middle of that word being key here) plot. To me, it equates to the Highlander movies, if you liked the first, don't go beyond it.

P.S.-The original also had one of the best soundtracks ever. We used to listen to it while gaming all the time (most military and action games back then).

I would strongly advise against the sequels as well. What is sad is that the comic book sequels were actually ok (well most of them were). While I ddn't hate as passionately as some, I was more just disappointed and largely bored.

I think the series was produced my Firework just like Andromeda, Mutant X, Beastmaster and Conan. If you liked them you might like the Crow series.

I thought the 3rd one was ok. I liked the idea of the Crow choosing someone else. It would allow for different actors to do it.

I think Brandon Lee's loss was a great one. He could have been a good actor. The Crow was his best movie but I would not use it to raise him to superstar status, I've seen a few of his other movies. They were no better than the Crow sequels. There is no evidence if he had lived that the movies would have been better with him than without.
