Sam Lipsyte: “The Dungeon Master” : The New Yorker

I thought people might be interested in this short story in the most recent issue of the New Yorker. It follows a group of high school kids tormented by their friend, a sadistic D&D Dungeon Master.

I'm sure this will spark some interesting discussion given the portrayal of the game and the players in this mainstream non-gaming magazine.

Note: some naughty language in the story!

I think we broke it... If someone can access the site - any chance of quoting it in sblock?

What caught my attention though, is that the link places this article in category of "fiction".

It warms my heart to see a story about a Dungeon Master, called "The Dungeon Master" in The New Yorker.

Now if only Harper's would start running video game reviews.

(actually, one of their editors, Tom Bissel, recently wrote a book about video games and his relationship/obsession with them called Extra Lives, so that day might not be far off)
