The Edge of the Wild

Zerash stops and glances up at the spiderweb, looking it over briefly, and then looks to the others.

"While it's possible whatever giant insect made that is long extinct, I would suggest not only looking to the ground for trails, but to the branches as well."

Thinks to himself that he shall have to pen another delay poison scroll when they make camp tonight...

Walfilbalf approaches the web with wide-eyed amusement. "Well, how 'bout that! That's a big 'un! Hey Rora, how big d'ya think dat spider'd have ta' be?" Picking up a nearbye branch, Walf starts poking at it, keeping one eye peeled, just in case one of the spiders is still in the area.

Eroria's eyes are wide. Her hood slips back as she looks at the web in consternation. Glancing at the treetops above, she hastily pulls it back up to cover her wild hair, and wraps her cloak about her arms, covering up her skin as best she can.

Seeing what he judges to be Eroria's discomfort with the web, Walfilbalf tosses the stick to the ground, "Eh, long gone, more'n likely. Prolly got eaten by da dragon, heh heh." After giving Eroria what he hopes is a reassuring smile, he heads back to the path to follow Durg.

"Ey, Durg. You sure ya know what yer doin'? Seems ta me like we been goin' fer longer'n ye said. Maybe ya oughta check dat map again."

Durgen marches along grumbling his dislike of the forest the whole way. It seems that the farther he gets from his last drink the more irritable he becomes. Noticing the stop in progress Durgen makes his way over to Walfi.

"Hey, Mount Walfi, could ya' spare a dwarf a little ale to ease the jorney?" Durgen pulls out his silver mug and holds it up to the giant.

Walfilbalf's grin widens, "Aye, now dat ain't no bad idea. I could use a bit of a break from all dis walkin'."

Slowly and carefully, Walf kneels, lowering his pack to the ground, then shrugging it off his shoulders. Once it's resting on the ground, he pulls out a large tankard marked with a 'W', and repositions the ten-gallon barrel that's strapped to the pack so that the tap's accessable to all.

"Fill 'em up, den we can drink as we walk."

Durgen grins for the first time since the journey began. "Now that's more like it boys, hobys, lizards and girls! A refreshing drink to bring back the vim and vigor to our walked out legs."

Durgen makes sure he is first in line to fill his mug, downs it then steps back in line. "One more for sippins gonna make this dwarf much more agreeable!"

With his cup full of ale and a new found respect for Walfi, Durgen absently swings his hammer at tall blades of grass and loose rocks as he approaches Durg.

"Now that's better!" Durgen hoists his mug at Durg, a large grin across his face. "Can't wait to smash some baddies now!"

After his second mug-full, Walfilbalf sighs, and tosses the empty stein back into his pack. "Well, I figger we oughtta get movin' again. After all, it's gotta last da whole trip, an' it won' pay ta drink it all now."

Walfilbalf quickly rearranges his pack, then heaves it up onto his back. "Well, off we go."
