My goal: create a Disciple Focus that allows it to perform minor healing and ranged Leader support while sticking mostly to its controller role.
(On the other hand, I'm happy to minimize the amount of custom work or content creation necessary. It will be mostly a drift from the telepathic psion.)
Discipline Focus: Empathy
As an empathic psion, you are somewhere between the telepathic psion and the euphoric ardent. You wield a calm mastery of the mind, but dare to tap into the emotional maelstrom around you.
You gain Sense Aura and Empathic Surge.
Sense Aura * Encounter * Free Action
Target: One Creature * Ranged 20
Attack: Arcana vs Will or Custom DC
Hit: You can perceive the target's emotional state. A target consciously hiding their emotions will incur a more difficult DC. Success here may provide a bonus to a followup skill roll.
Empathic Surge * Encounter * Minor Action
Target: One ally; must be conscious. * Close Burst 5
Effect: Target may spend a healing surge.

Possible powers: we can alter existing powers to give them a more leader-y feel. Suggestions:
Force Shield Like "Force Shard", but the shard provides +1 AC to allies instead of charming enemies.
Memory Splice Like "Memory Hole", but granting invisibility to an ally instead.
