The Enchanted Fortress

SHARK

First Post
Greetings!

Hmmm...well, I am designing a series of encounters for an up-coming game, and one of them includes the following:

An enchanted fortress that exists on a 1800 foot mountaintop, that is sheer on two sides, and on one side has an 1800-ft waterfall, while the remaining side has a gradual grade that accesses the ground level.

The defenders are led by a Human/Half-Fiend, Fighter 16/Cleric 10; and a female Human/Half-Elemental (Air) Rogue 10/Cleric 16. The forces at their command are as follows:

600 Beastmen/(Baboon headed), Barbarian 14
300 Beastmen/(Baboon headed), non-combatants (elderly, young females, and young)

4 Beastmen/(Baboon headed) Barbarian 18

2 Beastmen/(Baboon headed) Druids 18

1 Beastman/(Baboon headed) Barbarian 20

120 Lizardmen/Half-Dragon (Red); Barbarian 16
60 Lizardmen/Half-Dragon (Red) non-combatants, (elderly, young females, and young)

6 Lizardmen/Half-Dragon (Red) Fighter 10/Cleric 10

1 Great Wyrm Red Dragon, (Male)

1 Great Wyrm Red Dragon, (Female)

How would you organize the forces? What kinds of spells would you use in the defense of the fortress? What overall strategies would you employ?

Semper Fidelis,

SHARK

Against what threat? Against an army, the two druids(18) should be able to hold that place pretty much by themselves, with the various melee and support spellcasters mopping up anyone that makes it up the hill. Station units around the inside of the fortress in case anyone teleports in, though a Hallow tied to a Dimensional Anchor should keep that from being too much of a problem.

Commune with Nature to discern layout of enemy forces. Weather control of some kind, and some summoned air elementals, to make it impossible to fly into the fortress, so they have to climb the slope.

Earthquake, creeping doom, fire storms, spike stones, walls of fire, and various call lightnings to defend the slope itself. Once the enemy is ripped up from those, a barbarian charge, supported by some summoned elementals probably, downhill to sweep them off the slope. Oh, could they use Control Water to divert that waterfall down the slope once the enemy was about 2/3 the way up? That would be excellent. Put the spike stones at the bottom of the hill, in that case, so the troops get washed back onto them.
