The End?

OFF TOPIC kind of:

There is an old series of seven movies. The scripts were written by bible scolars and they depict what is likely to happen if the events of the rapture happen as laid out in Revelation. I forget the titles but any christian bookstore that has videos for sale should be able to hook you up. You may wish to check these out in relation to this world. They place the entire rapture happening over a period of about 14 years which would place this world in 2020, a bit disturbing if you ask me.

I've heard Engel is supposed to be angels vs. Demons in a far future setting.

I saw this very bizarre comic book called Michael or some such. In it the apocalypse got misscheduled/mishandled and the US signed a treaty with Hell, but the Gawd character keeps futzing up the terms by sending Angels to fight the demon hordes.

In Nomine is ok.

Rifts had a neat plotline with the four of the apocalypse wandering around Africa and the many super powerful people and groups who were working to keep them from getting together and ending it all.

Also, there was another product in a similiar vein called The Rapture. I happen to own all 3, as well as the D20 Version of The End. Looking forward to the new releases as well.
I have the original The End, and Rapture (and the GM screeen, adventue and Tyranny sourcebook). I love Rapture, and The End is pretty cool. I'm not familiar with Armageddon though. The guys who did Rapture are workling on a revised edition using d20 Modern. They haven't released much info yet.

I should probably check out The Rapture, since I love The End and In Nomine. I like the imagery, even if I don't buy the rest.

You're probably right. The payoff of gaining the right to live on one's own terms probably isn't worth the price of admission. Even so, if things went that way, I most certainly would be left behind, and assuming I didn't die or go insane, life could be interesting, with a few friends around.

i have The End. While it's an rpg product for everyone to play in i like it for a whole different reason: The Story. Once you start reading the story in the book, you don't stop, it's enthralling, it's well written, and it makes you want more!

The world is uberleathal (1d2 hit points, guns do mega damage, no 'heal' type spells common) so it is definately as real as one can get for a near-future product.

i recommend picking it up and reading it and the story as well..

I hadn't seen this...Sweet!!! Anyone have any more info on it? I had a hard time getting the original when it was first released, and I'm really curious to see how they are going to use the D20 Modern rules for it.

I definately have to agree here. The story was was hooked me on the original, and when the D20 version was released, I grabbed that up too.

And also, the world is -definately- uberleathal! Now all I need to do is track down the supplements that have been released for The End...

Have you playtested it? It's not coming out until March 2003. Looks cool!

I have the original edition published by Myrmiddon Press and I participated in the Eden Studios playtest for the new 2nd Edition. And it is VERY cool. If you are at all interested in this sort of genre check it out. I happen to think that the Unisystem is one of the most flexible RPG systems out there and works very well for this game. It is also used for WitchCraft, All Flesh Must Be Eaten, Terra Primate, and the Buffy RPG so if you have played any of those the system will be familiar.

Actually, it was originally out the same time as the Original version of The End. The version coming out in March is the "new" version using the UniSystem rules.

The original edition also used the Unisystem but it was in it's infancy. When Myrmiddon went under CJ Carella took Armageddon and WitchCraft to Eden Studios. They revamped them with Second Editions and developed new games (All Flesh Must Be Eaten, Terra Primate, and the Buffy RPG) using the Unisysem.

Good catch! I have most of their products using the UniSystem rules, though Witchcraft is probably my pick right now, since I haven't had a chance to break the shrink wrap on my copy of Buffy. Well, that's not counting ConspiracyX... <weg>, ties into Witchcraft rather well....

BTW, since you mentioned playtesting Armageddom 2nd Edition, is it still running under the "this is a possible future for the Witchcraft setting" ????

Also, I picked up Engel yesterday at a HUGE sale my FLGS is having, and it looks to be quite interesting. I've only had a chance to read the opening fiction, but I seriously think this will be one to watch. Sword and Sorcery did a GREAT job on it. (and yes, I realise this is a translation from another game.)
