Come test your skill at weaponry! Targets of various sorts will be set up in the Arena for competition in one of three categories: (1) archery (shortbows or crossbows, no longbows please as the range isn't that deep), (2) daggers (remove all poisons beforehand if possible), (3) thrown axes (again, all poisons removed). Magicked weapons are allowed only if the magic does not influence the result or would cause over-destruction to the target. For instance, a returning spell on a dagger would be allowed, but one that sets off a fireball on impact would not be. Weapons will be checked for the type of magic if any magic is detected on them at all. Any question of whether or not a weapon is allowed, or which category (if any) it fits into, or any other question of play, will be decided by the Marshal in charge. Each contestant will be allowed three shots or throws and the combined score of all three will be their final score in that category. The targets will be as follows: Archery: A figure of a attacking flying Harpy with the vital spots on head and chest circled. The figure will be suspended from a rope and set swinging from side to side. Thrown Daggers: A life-sized figure of a large fat merchant carrying a small fat sack. The target is freely mounted on a post and will be set spinning. Your choice of whether to aim at the merchant's throat to "kill" him or the sack to "release" the gold, either place counts as the best hit. Thrown Axes: A large Dragon and Maiden target. You must try to hit the evil maiden and not hit the good dragon! ((OOC: The competitions will be run in much simpler form than the Archery contest at UnCon in order to get through more quickly. There is no sign-up, players will be allowed to compete on a first-come, first-serve basis. When it's your time to compete, you may compete in as many of the three categories as you want. For each category: each attempt will be scored as a d20 roll plus an additional 1-5 bonus points for good-roleplaying. The three scores are then added to make a final score in that category. If at the end the winners are tied, there'll be another round if both players are still on site. Competition runs from 4pm till 6pm, PST, site time, on Monday, Jan. 17th!))
