A friend of mine from Iran just came to visit me over the holidays. He is into all of the things gamers generally get into, but claimed that if there was an RPG gaming culture in Iran, it was so small that he'd never heard of it. He admitted that he could have simply been unaware of small game shops and there could be a real presence, but he doubted it. This is hardly conclusive, but it's what I've heard about RPGs in Iran.
