Oh I don't believe for a moment he had ANY game product to release. Guys like that were hoping for a huge payout upfront, and then they would use that seed money to hire some no-namer to create a whole game system for a fraction of the seed money. Justin isn't smart enough to build his own game, but if he pulled in $100,000 in crowdsourcing, Justin would pay some kid $5000 to build the game and sign over all rights and ownership to Lanasa's "company." Justin is just that lazy and just that cheap of a person to think that was an equitable trade. Grifters always think everyone else is overpaid except themselves. The covid excuse (I'm willing to bet) is way too well-timed to be anything but an excuse to keep all funds and cancel the con. Justin doesn't want to run a convention with no attendees just to have everyone drive over to the BETTER con in town two miles away. Justin himself I am sure will lock up the DHSM by 12 noon and wander over to GaryCon because it's a morbid fascination of his, but they've already perma-banned him off the premises so my guess is that he'll drive his sad little wannabe tank over and park in the parking lot of the hotel and start up conversations about how he's really the original TSR, occasionally being told to get out of there by security and Justin whining that he can be in the parking lot because the ban only extends to the hotel and it's environs. Justin tried so hard to be a somebody, but in the end, he was always a loser and those are spots that you just cannot change easily. Justin has lost everything now. He's even going to lose his home, his businesses, his toy tank, his game company, and everything else. Erik Tenkar slowly and deliberately outsmarted him in a dozen different ways over the past six months, and Lanasa is not even smart enough to realize he was outplayed. Justin was playing checkers, and Erik Tenkar was playing chess. There's no comparison. Justin was never going to win against him. Tenkar kept politely slapping Justin in cyberspace everytime Lanasa would throw an insult Tenkar's way, enraging Justin more and more by the calmness of the retaliation and causing Justin to make more and more anger-driven blunders even as Erik Tenkar passed up obvious avenues of attack and played the taunting game. Eventually, the pressure against Justin (and the casual slapping of Justin's face so many times) was too much for Justin to take, and he couldn't hold his calm and started posting weird hate-filled rants about transgendered people being insane and homosexuals being genetically wiped for the good of humanity in 300 years due to genetic inferiority. Once he started making serious mistakes online because of his rage, it was a simple matter to report Justin and his nonsensical rage-filled tirades, which shifted the balance of power to Tenkar, which Tenkar exploited to his own advantage. It's amazing that Justin didn't see it earlier. Anyone else would have easily figured it out. Anyone BUT Justin Lanasa.
