They're probably marked way up in price to discourage people from buying them, and the staff may be reluctant to let people look at them and see that they're used. Or it's even possible that if someone buys the book, they claim that they need to be shipped (saying that the books in the display case are for display only), then they print off a cheap copy (like they did with the spiral-bound Star Frontiers stuff, assuming that there was any text under that cover) and get it bound. It's even possible they know someone who will do the binding for them cheap, using leather-texture vinyl instead of actual leather.</blockquote>
