I'm starting to formulate a new conspiracy theory:

Dave Johnson was asked to write SF:NG, with the expectation that it would be in a viable state by TSR Con.
DJ wrote something absurdly extremist because that's the kind of guy he is.

Justin may or may not have had any idea that level of extremism was being put to paper.

Justin may or may not agree with the extremism - things seem to suggest he might accept it because he feels it would drive the "woke" crowd crazy - but even so he might have realized there's no way he can publish the horror DJ wrote without some major business repercussions.
DJ is sidelined, and has pretty much vanished without a trace. We have no idea if he's still working on SF:NG, but he's come up with ideas for at least three different large projects in the last six months, so he's clearly not fully dedicated to this one.

Honestly, if there ever is a final product I'd be surprised if DJ's name is still on it.

Justin now doesn't have a product he can sell, and doesn't have any writers that can finish it. We only have evidence of SF:NG having only two writers, (1) DaveJ, which is an extremist loon, and (2) LoganH, which fled the scene. Justin doesn't write; he's an idea man, so he certainly can't create a product of this scale himself, which is why we have yet to see an actual product months after the presumed release date.
With DaveJ no longer working on SF:NG, Justin tries to edit it as best he can, taking out DJ's obvious n-word section, but is oblivious to why the "Nordic" section is so bad. So he leaves that in... for now.
Justin is probably having a really hard time finding anyone willing to work on this project at all.
