TBF I had my first within the last couple of years. Manicures are a little more mainstream for men, but they're still at least a little bit luxurious, and there's definitely still a toxic component to American masculinity which shuns such personal care. I think you've got that a little bit backwards/upside down. Generally personal grooming isn't considered manly or macho, which is why so many products are trying to package basic and simple personal care like moisturizer in macho/manly branding. It's not that, e.g., cleaning up your body hair has become macho, rather that labeling it "manscaping" or packaging personal shavers with metallic or camouflage logos is meant to make it sufficiently, acceptably manly. Pedicures still haven't come in for any of that kind of rebranding that I'm aware of. But they ARE a little bit of a luxury item in the eyes of most dudes, so I think a more likely explanation there is Lanasa doing it in part to feel like a big shot and enjoy being served. I also wouldn't rule out the possibility that he previously had nasty feet, and maybe his wife insisted that he start getting his toenails and callouses taken care of.
