I can say from direct experience that UW-Milwaukee and -Madison archives are more than qualified to house this stuff (as is Marquette, yes, though I can't speak to the other UW campuses). A glance at Gary Gygax's wiki page shows his own higher education included some classes at the University of Chicago, but I doubt ol' Gary had much attachment there.
