I think its particularly important to document this stuff because we are currently in a transitional period where the last members of the original generation of TTRPG players are passing away, and that is leading to weird attempts to control the narrative of not just the past of the hobby, but also the future of it. Stephen Dinehart's whole plan for GiantLands appears to have been to essentially recruit original generation talent who was on their last legs so he could own their final creations (Kimber Eastland, Jim Ward and to a lesser degree Larry Elmore), with the assumption that it would give him enough "juice" to have unlimited access to funding. Justin LaNasa's plans all seemed to revolve around the idea that if he had Ernie's name on products, he would be bulletproof in the realm of public opinion so could operate as recklessly as he wanted and claim ownership of the origins of the hobby, not just for fun and profit but to also try to push his (in my opinion, deplorable) politics into Wizards of the Coasts business and the D&D brand. Currently, on the fringes of this, I can see various people (including Stephen Dinehart) who are afraid to talk to Tim Kask, lovingly running to Rob Kuntz not because he's telling them something that they didn't know - but because he's saying something they already agree with. Dinehart is also continuing to promote himself as an authority on game design, and apparently requiring his students to watch and write about Secrets of Blackmore (and it seems he's doing it mostly to try to get approval and credibility in the grognard space). These guys are not harmless, and they do not have the integrity to be honest about their deeds - they routinely delete massive amounts of content when it turns out they're in trouble then come back almost immediately later and deny they were ever in the wrong. It is worth making sure that people can be aware of what they are doing, what they are trying to do and why they should be opposed.
