The GenCon SoCal Thread

I'll be there with John Wick and Clinton R Nixon and Justin Jacobson.

We'll be demoing games at our booth and running scheduled games and seminars. Stop by and say hi!

And play in a free demo. Since (a) I'll only be there for two days (FYI: Thu and Fri) and (b) it's a lot smaller than Indy, my plan is to just hang out at the booth and run demos. My hope is that (because of b) I'll be able to make these longer, more involved demos on the order of mini-games. And, uh, free. So drop by.

I hope to make it at least one day, possibly more if my work schedule allows. Only problem is, I'm not sure which day or how many days. :(

Hope to see some of you! Maybe I'll wear a nametag with ENWORLD and Doc_Klueless on it.

Got my badge and tickets in the mail a couple of days ago.

Is there going to be a booth where ENWorld types congregate? I remember one at GenCon Indy a couple of years ago, and it was nice to meet some fellow ENWorlders.

It looks likely that myself and some other Halmae types will be there Saturday, possibly Friday night.

"Bad Monkey" Jeff Tidball will be working the Atlas booth all weekend, so stop by and get him to demo Pieces of Eight for you. (Tell him Kettenek's Justice demands it!).

I'll be there in the GPA booth. We went last year when we opened our miniature line. It's certainly smaller than Indy, and sales are not near as good (even proportionate to the size of the crows). Lots of the smaller companies can't afford the trip. My impression last year was that the convention was very heavily weighted towards CCGs, and I think we might have been the only miniature company there with out little 12 piece opening line. But CW is based in AZ and Las Vegas (split between them), so it's significantly cheaper for us to get out there. I believe Dark Ages is going this year, and we'll be there, so that's at least 2 miniature companies. I have a new draft of a skirmish game I'll be looking to demo/Beta test. Anyway, we'll get set up and just see how things go.

I'll be there with a few friends all four days. The first day will probably be spent stainding in line waiting to buy a ticket. We missed pre-reg by 2 hours.

I've never been to a gaming convention.
