The Gohlbrorn

Oddly enough, it seems that the only MM creatures with range incements to their ranged attacks are giants and spiderkin (for their webs).

Here's some other text:
Magma Rock (Ex): A magma hurler can spit forth a ball of molten rock into its hand as a move action, as often as once per round. It can throw a magma rock with a range increment of 30 feet (maximum 150 feet).

Spit Fire (Su): A dracotaur can spit a glob of fire as a standard action. Once a dracotaur sppits, it cannot spit again for 1 minute. The dracotaur's spittle is a sticky adhesive substance that ignites when exposed to air, much like alchemist's fire. This glob of fiery spittle is treated as a ranged touch attack with a range increment of 20 feet.

The spit stones writeup should work. I guess we just need to decide if we want to include a range increment or not. If we do, I'd vote for 60 feet, as this is the range of its darkvision and tremorsense, so it would usually fire within that range.

I'd go with max range with no increments. Increments seem to mostly be for thrown weapons (the dracotaur being an exception).

Durn! Almost forgot about working on this guy. :)

A distant rumbling fills your ears as a small, bullet-shaped creature comes into view.
Its snapping jaw takes up most of its dark gray head. The quadruped's thick armor plates reflect the color of its stony surroundings.

The gohlbrorn is a smaller, more intelligent relative of the bulette that hunts in packs. A gohlbrorn pack will roam the Underdark, preferring areas near large populations of easy prey. The strongest member of the pack acts as the leader, though all members of a pack are valued equally; the whole pack will band together to defend new eggs, and older gohlbrorn are supported by younger members when they are too frail to hunt.

Like the bulette, gohlbrorn will eat any prey they can catch, but are more cautious as to what prey they will go after. Mind flayers and svirfneblin have powers that make them hard to kill, but lone grimlocks and even drow are much easier victims.

A gohlbrorn is 5 to 7 feet long and 5 feet high, and weighs X pounds.

Gohlbrorn have a complicated language composed of incomprehensible muffled sounds. They don't appear to have the capacity to mimic other languages, but can probably learn to understand them.

Combat
A gohlbrorn's intelligence, cunning, and ability to coordinate attacks makes a pack of them very dangerous. They will tunnel ahead, and conceal themselves using their natural camouflage to observe prey. Gohlbrorn are highly organized combatants, and will attack the most powerful foe first, and dive back into their tunnels to regroup while their opponents are disoriented. They do not fight to the death, and will flee when faced with overwhelming odds.

Looks good. 450-500 lbs.? (I compared it to similarly-sized dinosaurs, whose weight would seem to be comparable).

Oddly, the bulette does not have length/weight info.

Change "stones" on SQ line to "spit stones" so it matches the description below.

Suggested skill ranks: Hide 2, Listen 2, Move Silently 2, Spot 2

Suggested additional feat: Stealty. (Perhaps also Alertness, and make one of the three feats a bonus feat?)

CR: 3?

Leap: It appears that the bulette uses its primary attack bonus for its leap, so that gives us an attack bonus of +6 for this critter.
