Okay - from what has been explained in the War of Souls so far, the Dragons came from a different place altogether, and not likely Taladas but a whole new world or other plane. they came for the purpose of taking control of the world. They came at the behest of Takhisis. Also, Mina has been preacghing about the "One God" and about bringing the God to Krynn (or back to Krynn) and in doing so has been making a point to kill the great Dragons. So... I think that the Dragons are individual avatars of Takhisis, who saw the Chaos War coming. She was able to divide herself amongst them to preserve her presence on Krynn even while the other gods were banished. Now, through mina, she is killing her avatars so that she may reform. Of course, this won't be able to stand, Takhisis being the only god I mean, so someone who knows how to walk between plans will have to open a door for the rest of the gods to come back. The only one, I think, who has ever done so in DL is of course Rasitlin, who is about as dead as Superman was, if you get my meaning.

I dunno... If it came to opening a planar portal, Dalamar could probably do it. As I recall, he was fairly well familiar with what Raistlin did to open the portal in the first place.

I get the impression that while Dalamar might know HOW to do it he still lacks the raw magical power to do it.

Forgive me if my facts are off, I havn't read the twins series in ages, but...

If they were planning to use one of the Gates... even Raistlin was unable to open them alone, due to the restriction placed on it. I forget the exact wording of the restriction on who could open them, though, but I didn't think it took an exceptional amount of power.

Now, on the other hand, if they were planning to do it in some fashion other than opening one of the Gates... Then I don't know. How about Palin, with Dalamar's instruction? Or by sacrificing some great artifact?

The requirements to open a portal was a black wizard who has done the most unspeakable of evil acts working in conjunction with a cleric of good of the purest of heart.

Could you even find someone that would fit #2?

Hmmm...

...isn´t the question rather if they´d even use that gate? As far as I remember, it only lead to the Abyss, to open it to the Dark Queen. If the gods really left, wouldn´t someone need to find them first, and convince them to come back? After all, they left to appease Chaos...although I can picture Raistlin arguing with Fizban and Gilean to come back, getting more and more exasperated by the minute :D

Goldmoon died at the end of Dragons of the Lost Stars, and anyways she lost faith in Paladine and Mishikal and only as she died did she ask forgiveness of them.
