The Hamdog and Luther burger

As far as food goes... for those in Halifax (and I know there are a few) I have Two words....
Robert's Donairs.

Possibly a unique atlantic Canada thing, the Donair is an affront to all healthy eaters everywhere. Which is probably why they are so damn popular. Basically it is pita filled with meat (mostly beef with some lamb and spices) that is sliced off of a huge chunk that is continually roasting on a spit. The meat is then covered with diced tomatoes and onions and slathered in "donair sauce" which is sweet, white, sticky and the subject of many off colour jokes and comments. While many places make them, Robert's makes the best. The large size is approximately the size of a football and can generally singlehandedly raise your cholesterol by 5 points.

Believe it or not... no.

The Gyro is similar in many ways but having eaten both, there are enough differences ( especially in the sauce, which is definately NOT Tzatziki) to separate the two.

I used to have a friend named Faron, and he for a time he worked at a Backyard Burger, which is sort of like a Rallys, but better. Anyway, while he worked there, he devised a burger which had bacon, cheese, a chili on it. They called it the Faron Burger, and apparently word spread around a bit, and people would actually order Faron Burgers there.

These are a few of my favorite things...

Cheese, chili, and bacon? Yum!

Next time my family goes to FL, we'll have to stop off at Mulligan's to get a Hamdog. I'll cut it in fourths and reheat them in the microwave after I eat one quarter of it.
