The Hobbit: Can someone point me at some REAL info?

You've got to be kidding me?

I'm so tired of hearing this from the "professional" readers of the "books". Like your some special expert and nothing will or can disgrace the "holy books of Tolkien". Get over yourself and stop trying to put the movies down just so you can show-off that I'm a "true" Tolkien fan. Yes the books are "wonderful" but the movies in their own right are pretty dam good too.

The only people I could see not liking the move are people who actively want to hate or dislike the movie.

There is no arguing against ignorance! No one in their right mind could say these were bad movies! I just logicly don't see how?

I'm speaking to all the naysayers out there!

Personally , I think the book are too long and heavy winded!

Hey, different strokes for different folks and all that, buddy. :D

No need to go off on folks just 'cuz they don't like the same stuff you do, or don't like the things you like *as much* as you like them.

For example, I am V-E-R-Y excited about Peter Jackson remaking King Kong (I mean, come on! It's KING KONG! Fighting dinosaurs and everything!) but it appears that I may be in the minority on this particular message board. >shrug< It happens.

Other close contenders include The Godfather (Part I) & The Princess Bride.
I'll be honest, I haven't read those books...yet. However, a good conversion I've read/seen was The Green Mile.

personally i think you are blowing smoke up your own ass.

i read for enjoyment.

i go to the movies for the same reason.

for me. the books and the movies were different.

I'm curious...are you going to see Return of the King? On opening night? If so, why? Also, if you did not like FoTR, why did you go to see TTT?

If they are really that bad, with no enjoyment to you, why did you watch them on dvd to see the extra footage? Did you buy the dvd's? Why?

Yes the books and movies are different, but you said nothing about them being different. Books and movies are always different. It does not mean you can not enjoy them both...unless you don't want to.

I have a friend who knows the books, much like you probably do, like the back of his hand. And while he was disappointed in the movies with things they added and took away, he still thinks they (the movies) are good in their own right.

yes, i'm going to see the RotK, just not on opening night. probably 2 or 3 weeks later. i'm married. did you read the rest of the first post you ripped into. my wife really enjoyed the movie(s). a C- is not a failing grade. what school did you go to?

the last movie i camped out for to see on opening night was D&D the Movie. I waited 20+ years for that. Now if you want to talk about disappointment.

plus i still owe my wife for that one. probably one of the many reasons she won't game. ;)

i got them as presents. i have birthdays. i celebrate xmas. etc...my friends and family know i'm a gamer. and that i enjoyed the books.

again look at my rating. i think you are focusing to much of your own review system on my score. a c- is a passing grade. just not a stellar grade.

Going by College Ratings, a C- is barely average, which in itself amounts to 'barely passing' (most Colleges don't accept credit for classes that have a D or less for a grade).
And yes, I am nitpicking :p
