The Jade Frontier (DM: Ukingsken, Judge: Lord Sessadore)

Brenwar sighs and says, "I suppose it is likely that it is a kobold attack rather than anything else. I tried to be optimistic..."

[sblock=ooc]Hi everyone! I'm back from my honeymoon and finally caught up all my reading.

Hope you guys can get some momentum going again - ukingsken has some good things in store for you, it'd be a shame to not discover them :)[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]Hey guys I'll edit this into a post about the farm this evening. Just took a new job and its been a hectic day or so. It seems my life is always hectic.[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]Welcome back Lord Sessandore, I hope this isn't as exciting as the honeymoon :)
No problem Ukingsken, seems everyone's had their moments in this thread.[/sblock]

As you head up the road you pass several more buildings. Ahead now you can see that it is indeed one of the farm houses up in flames.

The house itself stands on the north side of a simple plot of land, fenced in on all sides. A small barn stands in the southwest corner, and has as of yet escaped the flames now licking at the roof of the home.

There are bushes and trees that wrap around the back of the house, and the forest seems to stop just at the edge of their property, shielding any attackers lurking in there shadows.

There is no immediate sign of any kobolds but as you strain your ears you hear the occassional squeaking voice off in the distance. Suddenly you see several kobolds rush out of the woods and into the barn. You count six in total, and they seem not to have noticed you.

Brenwar grimaces as he sees the house in flames, "I was hoping it was just a farmer clearing some undergrowth, but it appears my prayers to Palladys go unanswered." He silently pulls out his war hammer and shield ready to go battle the raiders.

Miranna gave a single quick glance around the area- she knew that if more of the sneaky beasts were hidden nearby, she had little chance of spotting them. "No time to waste- if there are survivors, they're in that barn and about to be swarmed. Anyone who fights close up, come with me- the rest of you, cover us and nail any kobolds trying to flee. I'd not have any get away this time..." Her voice rasped even more than normal, with the building tension of battle to come, and as she finished speaking she broke into a trot towards the barn doors.

OOC: (Miranna knows her Perception is no match for hiding kobolds, so she wants to get in close ASAP.) Move towards the barn. Standard action for a second move if needed, or charge if any target is available. How many of us are actually active at this point? I count Miranna, Brenwar, Cheysuli and Shayla- anybody else here?

"Alright Miranna lead the way and I'll be right behind you."
[sblock=OOC] How are we going to manage the missing people?[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Can I keep my perception and nature checks from earlier as they weren't used? If so, the perception check is to keep an eye out for sneaky hidden kobolds and to look for a water source to douse the fire, maybe a well or brook. The nature check to check out the forest surrounding the farmhold; see if there are any paths that aren't marked on the map, and check that there are no hidden escape routes that the kobolds could use to get away from us.[/sblock]

"I have got your back Miranna." Cheysuli replies to the fey-scarred swordmage whilst circling around behind her; spear in one hand and crackling green magic in the other.

[sblock=ooc] Yes you can use yur perception now, and as for the missing members I'm going to NPC Rumleech and I'll message Rathan. I'm in another game with him and I think hes around.[/sblock]

As you approach the Barn you hear screaming from upstairs in the loft. From below the kobolds snicker, but they seem not to notice your approach.

[sblock=OOC] Dmn invisible castle failing my kobolds perception![/sblock]

If everyone can please post their starting positions and actions I would appreciate it. I will roll initiative for everyone.

[Sblock=Map] Map is here. Red has javelins, blue have pikes, green is dressed in robes and brown has a scale shield.[/sblock]
