The Jade Frontier, part 2 (DM: THB, Judge: Lord Sessadore)

The word "Takeshi" is written here, although I don't think I've heard it before. Yishim struggles to remember if it means anything to him. He looks back at the sarcophagus, and asks Who is Takeshi?.

A freezing wind blows past those at the door and into the crypt. It forms into a vortex in front of the sarcophagus, sucking all of the dust up into itself, as well as pulling some of you a few steps closer. The whirlwind disperses, but in its place stands the ghost knight you saw outside the keep. He looks at Yishim with blazing eyes and snarls in accented Allarian:

"I am Takeshi. And you, foreigner, are trespassing."

Taken aback by the ghost's sudden appearance, Firete hastily tries to rectify the situation.

We meant no disrespect, Sir Knight, in coming here. We seek to stop the others who have gone further than trespass, into desecration. Pray, tell, why are you not at rest?

As she speaks, she tries to assess if the ghost is any sort of threat to them.

"Lies. You are agents of the Shadowed One, come to lay open my memories and tear away any secrets you find." His gaze turns defiant. "I know nothing. Leave me to my torment."

[sblock=Insight]Ghosts are hard to read.[/sblock]

We are no friends of the shadowed one. We have come here to rid this keep of the evil that permeates it. Someone is attempting to open the portal which separates our worlds, and he must be stopped.

You were a knight once, and evil did not always dwell here. We have seen the ghosts of soldiers and even a young girl. What happened here, and what can we do to set them free?

"Ah, a girl." His visage becomes sorrowful. "Izumi..." He trails off into silence for a moment before looking back at Yishim. "You are wrong, foreigner. Evil has always dwelt here. Ever since this keep has stood, even before I was placed in command, this place has been a well of misery and darkness. And I only exacerbated the problem."

Takeshi sighs, apparently out of habit. "You may not be servants of darkness, but how do I know you are not here to pillage what was once my home? How do I know you are truly committed to cleansing this ruin?"

[sblock=Updated Insight]Well, he hasn't attacked you yet. Despite what he says, if he really thought you were evil cultists or godless looters, he'd probably be doing more than just talking.[/sblock]

[sblock=Palladys]Takeshi is not wearing a holy symbol, nor does his spectral garb have any religious significance you can recognize.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Somehow I don't think the spook likes me. And I have the suspicion that Diplomacy is not going to work. Any ideas? I had the crazy thought we could willingly let him possess one of us so he could see into our minds.[/sblock]

Chey calls over from the doorway; "Perhaps you should take a look at the cleansing we have already done on our way to this chamber! Also, I have here a ritual that will strengthen the seal below."
The tiefling brandishes a scroll of parchment for the ghost to see.
[sblock=OOC]That could work but is quite risky, what if he doesn't want to give the body back.[/sblock]

It's true, Lord Takeshi. Brenwar cleansed the entryway to this room, which had been corrupted so that the knights would attack the good. The seal underground is being weakened as we speak. Even if we destroy the nefarious soul who seeks to unleash the horrors of the other world upon this one, only the ritual can close the gate. So we will cleanse this place.

What could you have done to exacerbate the evil here? And will you help us set things right - as much as they can be?
