The Jade Frontier, part 2 (DM: THB, Judge: Lord Sessadore)

"Yes, Miranna, I have some rope," Firete says, opening her pack and getting it out. "Who is good with knots?"

[sblock=OOC] Silly question, adventurers always have rope[/sblock]

"Let us get set up then," Miranna rasped as she set to work with the ropes. "We will see if we can surprise those who would rather surprise us..."

OOC: Looking for someplace to anchor ropes- the intent is to fast-rappel down the lines and get set up as fast as possible. Since it is 30 feet (6 squares) down, that would be a double move- I think we should hold the loose ropes, rappel the first 15 feet in our first round (single move)- hopefully we will still be in the shaft and hidden. In our second round, we can drop the loose coil of rope, rappel the other 15 feet and still have a Standard action available (as well as a a minor to draw weapons, since it seems impractical to rappel with a weapon in hand). If just Miranna and Brenwar are going first, they'll set up back to back- if Yishim is also going in the first wave, Miranna and Brenwar will move a bit farther apart, with Yishim in the middle. How does that sound?

The tracks looked like those of a normal booted adult. However, the distance between the steps is smaller than what you'd expect from a human of that size.

There is no rubble in the room. Perhaps because it all fell through the floor when the hole was opened, perhaps because it's been cleared away.

[sblock=ooc]The map is being more difficult than I had hoped to make, but it will be up either later this evening or early tomorrow.

And just so I'm on the same page as all of you, here's what I understand your plan to be:

Round 1: Brenwar, Miranna, and Yishim begin their descent.
Round 2: Brenwar, Miranna, and Yishim finish their descent, draw their weapons, and possibly attack. Chey and Firete begin their descent.
Round 3: Brenwar, Miranna, and Yishim act normally. Chey and Firete finish their descent, draw their weapons, and possibly attack.

And ideally, whoever's down their doesn't notice you until Round 2. Is this right?[/sblock]

[sblock= OOC] That is the plan. The only notable clarification is that during round 1, we are planning for no undue noise and each of those descending will be holding the loose end of their descent ropes in a loose coil- the idea being that we avoid the advance warning of several ropes appearing from above. Thus, round 1 would be descend to 15 feet on a premeasured length of rope (and hopefully still within the cover of the shaft. Round 2 would be:
>Free: drop coiled loose end of rope
>Move: descend 15 to floor (3 squares moved at half rate for climbing)
>Minor: Draw weapons
>Standard: Prepare to receive welcoming committee
(Ideally, we would each delay appropriately so as to all act at the same time).

For what it is worth, Miranna (and probably Yishim as well) will have Thunderwave ready in mind to clear the ground around the LZ- since it is a mage implement power, Miranna can use it without waiting to draw a weapon. [/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Sorry for the unannounced absence guys :([/sblock]

"I could quite easily slip through the Arcadian veil to emerge down there..." Chey whispers as she peers down into the gloom, "Then you could lower the rope to me when the coast is clear, less chance of being noticed during descent with me keeping watch. I'll activate a sunrod in my pocket and spill it's light for a second when it is clear to drop the rope, then tug on it once when nothing is looking."
