The Latest Incarnation Fantastic 4 Cartoon on Tonight...

Eh... While the animation is attractive, it's somewhat stiff. Like most Marvel animated cartoons, the emphasis is on a more "realistic" visual style as opposed to the stylized style that has become associated with DC animation over the past 14 years.

The fight sequences in particular are pretty dull and poorly constructed. The characterizations, though, are the best I've seen for the FF to date, although they need to watch out on how they portray Sue Storm (although, for all I know, she's somewhat "unpleasant" in the comics too).

Oh, and this isn't an origin story. It just jumps right into the early years (I'm assuming) of their heroism.

I watched the one with Ronan the Accuser - was that the first one? In any case, I didn't like it. Johnny's hair really bugged me, and I prefer the "classic" FF uniforms (and Baxter building, for that matter) over these. Personality-wise they're pretty spot on, but I'm just too much of a purist to get much enjoyment out of this version. I think I'll pass.

I did like the "grumpy Smurf" comments, though.
