The Low Down on Unfettered

Some tidbits:

d8 Hit Die
4 skill points/level (mostly stealth, acrobatic, and social skills)
Fighter BAB
good Ref save (poor Fort & Will)
light armor
sneak attack every 4 levels
6 bonus feats spread over 20 levels
+1 AC bonus (in light or no armor) roughly every 3 levels
special parry abilities
evasion gained at mid-career

One of the parry abilities is a duelist prc-like int bonus to dodge limited by class level, I forget if that is just against hand to hand though.

A cleaner swashbuckler than a straight fighter, straight rogue, fighter/rogue or a fighter/rogue/duelist.

At first the parry is only against hand-to-hand; at 7th level it can also be vs. Ranged Attacks; at I think 13th or so you gain the ability to parry spells that are targeting you.

It's also not really all that different from the Rokugan Ninja base class, for that matter. The Ninja Dodge special ability works a little differently than the Unfettered one, but really if you were playing either of the two classes, you wouldn't notice too much difference.

Thanks for all the info everyone. Overall, it doesn't sound quite as miraculous as others have made it out to be. homebrew > monte :D
After making such a boast, you know you have to post your homebrew class, don't you? :)

I should also point out that the list of bonus feats includes scads of feats that are not in the core rules at all. Lots of "swashbuckly" abilities in there too.

Mine? Hmm, my bluff's been called! :D

Well, I can certainly post the class for you, but it'd require hoards of explanation for anyone to get the right idea, since it's neatly couched in a pile of houserules. So tell ya'll what. Someone tell me how to do that nifty 'code' thing that preserves tables, and I'll post the class, and about another page of relevant houserules to go with it.

You type
(code)
table text goes here
(/code)

except you use square brackets [] instead of parentheses (). A word of warning: The code tag replaces groups of four spaces with tabs, so you might want to preview your post to make sure it looks right. It's also a good idea to type the table up in Notepad or something beforehand and make sure you've replaced all the tabs with spaces.
