Hello you guys...

I am going to play as lvl 1 character in a fr party set in the moonshaes, so I was wondering, could anyone sort of tell me the major story of the moonshaes, I need this because I dont own a Campaign Setting

Also see if you can borrow a boook from the DM or other player to read over (particularly if the DM has House notes about the area).

Well, you likely won't ahve enough time, but there is a trilogy (the Moonshae Trilogy, or somesuch) of novels which get into the Isles.

It is basically Celtic-era British Isles (except there's more of them), so you'd definitly want some ranks in Swim Lots of druidism and whatnot too.

IIRC, it was the first region of the Realms to get novel-treatment.

The published Moonshaes originated in Doug Niles's novel trilogy, which wasn't originally written for the Realms. Sadly, Doug's Moonshaes overwrote Ed's existing, detailed but unpublished archipelago.

The main sources are the six novels, FR2 Moonshae and FA1 Halls of the High King.
