The Moth Story Hour

For those of you that know and/or have been. It is a lot of fun. The people, many now, are semi-professional. But, I was thinking...

Would it be a good idea to try this for an RPG crowd? GM's telling their best story with a twist at the end? Players talking about their favorite TPK? Real life relationships coming out of a gaming group? etc.

Seems to me like it would be a blast. But, seeing how I really like the Moth, that's a no brainer. Just wondering what the average gamer's take on this would be. (I am well aware it would be all about how well the storytellers perform. But, IMHO I think there are a lot of great ones out there.)

Thanks for the feedback.

Though I don’t listen to the podcast, I’ve been to The Moth’s live performances (my wife is a fan). Some were hilarious (the dude telling a story about using the bathroom in a punk venue), some were painful (one person just droned on and on past the time limit, even after multiple nudges). From what I understand, the actual podcast is taken from the best of these live performances.

It could absolutely work in a gaming context. But it takes people that are either gifted at comedy, storytelling, or both. As with The Moth, really. It’s finding those people that would make it work. A lot of people aren’t as funny as they think they are.
