The name "Xi"

The similarity to a common pronoun might cause some giggles. My 12 year old might not be able to get past that but hopefully your group is more mature :p

As I posted above, I'm starting to think that I, myself, won't be able to get past that part. :p What seemed okay in my head sounded absolutely awful out loud.

I'm reminding myself of the time I jokingly told my husband that I had a Japanese ex named "Yu". Now whenever I tell him "I love you" he gets suspicious.

If your players are making jokes about the name at least they remember the name.

Much better than every session kicking off with "what were those guys we're fighting again?" and repeated every 10 minutes.

Actually the X in chinese (pinyin transcription) represents a sound between Sh and S, but of course, it's awkward to accuratelly pronounce stuff in a language when speaking another one, unless everyone is familiar with it.

If the asian theme is not important, you could get inspiration from central europe with all those names without vowels.
Like Krk (sounds like Kirk)

...but to be honest, this will probably be mentioned regardless of the name. ;)

Hi guys,

"Xi" is pronoucned as the letter "C" in Mandarin.
In Mandarin, there are four different intonation, but "C" will come closed to how it can be pronoucned.
