The net is a small place

Well, 1 out of 17 people in the US live in So Cal - it's not that unusual. There are at least two of us that I know of just in Irvine. What really struck me as odd was when I was living in West Lafayette, Indiana and found that there were like 4 or 5 people living there on Enworld.

Not odd. Purdue/Greater Lafayette area has a long history of RPG players. Though probably not odd, but unfortunate, I don't know any of those here in WL who frequent these boards, with one exception, and I don't know his screen name.

Maybe we need a Purdue/West Lafayette/Lafayette gameday.

What was really wild was walking into a staff meeting and sitting down next to a guy who I played in Leopold's G2 game at GenCon.

Sorry for hijacking this to the Midwest....

I just encountered a fellow poster who also lives in so cal. and it got me to wondering . . .
I'm not in So. Cal. but I do have a "net is a small place" story relating to EN World. There used to be a regular poster on the boards by the username of Ruin Explorer. It turns out that RE and I went to the same high school albeit at different times. Freakish! :p

Another SoCal here. Looks like I am the anti-Sigil since I am about 3 miles north of the SoCal Gen Con site.

i lived in socal for a while, but all that sunshine and pleasant weather was just too much. i need cold and snow.

besides, my parents moved and since i was only eight, they thought i should come with them. and now, i am not eight anymore, and can think of no reason to move back.

just my thoughts

Former SoCalinate here as well. Was stationed at Camp Pendleton while in the 'Corps & played JuCo Football at Palomar College.

Probably because there isn't much else to do in that little green haven stuck in the middle of flatland. ;)

So-Cal guy right here. Graduated from UC Irvine, live about 3 miles south of the Gen Con SoCal site. :)

Sigil, what year and major were you? I graduated from UCI in 2000 with a double in Poli Sci and Econ.

I discovered that one of them lived close enough that we could go have coffee together. Furthermore I enticed her to start roleplaying and now she's an ENWorlder too.

Though, now, her only contact with the outside world beyond the internet is what she can see through the block security glass in Rel's basement.

Let this be a lesson to you all when meeting in real life the people you first met online.
