The New DR and third Party Monster Books ( a 3.5 topic)

In my opinion at least the change with the more far reaching effect shall be the change in DR.

So I am curious.

Will we be seeing internet updates for the various third party monster books any time soon to update them for this change?

Books such as:

Creature Collection 1
Creature Collection 2
Denizens of Darkness
Liner Beastiarus
Tome of Horrors
Monster Manual 2 ( I know a WOTC Product)
Fiend Folio (Ditto)

These will all need updates. If you want to make me a lifelong customer and guaruntee I will give all your new products a close look towards purchasing you should put out an update for this on the web. Trust me on this one. This will be a very simple way(possibly time consuming but hardly more than a few hours work I would expect) to get on the good sides of a lot of gamers.

So is this going to happen? Anyone have any inside info on this?

BTW - If I missed any books on monsters (and I am sure I did) do not take it as an insult. These are just the first that came to mind and hardly a comprehensive list.

Creature Collection Revised is due for next month and it will have everything the first Collection had with some new artwork and completely compatible with 3.5 D&D.

Wizards has said that they will be doing web enhancements that will update both FF and MM2. However, they also said that the changes needed would be minor. Meaning you can still use them as is and not unbalance your game.

I have to assume that the other d20 publishers will do something similar, as ignoring the 3.5 update would mean lost sales for their product lines.

Best regards,

Most publishers profess that they don't make a lot of money on backstock; it's all about what is new these days.

That is so true. Sadly, I'd like to add, because nobody should be forced to spend another 90+ $ on some books which he/she bought only recently (that did happen to me with D20 Star Wars...).

Anyway, we at TOGC use the following logo to mark all products which can be used with both versions:
logo-Thirdsmall.jpg

And, hopefully, other publishers will use that logo as well (I wouldn't mind anyone using it - in fact I encourage it ;) ). Read all about it here.

But, as you may notice on our Projects&Products page, not all our products will carry this logo.
That's because changing a whole book of critters or NPCs is quite a herculean task. Publishing a "revised edition" of an older critters book might be worth it, but I don't think so. And a "free web enhancement" is much work with little profit (and not that simple...). Sadly (once again).

I know that wotc is releasing a pdf for using 3.0 book with 3.5 I'm sure this will be covered in there. I'm sure it won't be difficult just reduce the number and only the items that give the reduction are those that are listed.

The simplest option would simply be to include conversion notes telling one how to turn a 3.0 character or monster into a 3.5 character or monster, including suggestions for DR conversion.
